Amanda Prescott is a senior at Ansonia High School, and she's into some strange stuff -- stuff she hopes to turn into a career.

Prescott is a self-taught special effects makeup artist. 

Special effects makeup artist are the movie magic people who do things like creating the ghoulish zombies on 'The Walking Dead.'

In this interview, Valley Indy reporters Eugene Driscoll and Ethan Fry talk to Amanda about how she became interested in the career, and how her family, friends and teachers have supported her dream.

The Valley Indy used Amanda's appearance while urging people to donate to Ansonia Public Schools during the event.

Seymour is scheduled to vote on town and school budgets during a referendum Thursday, May 11 at the Seymour Community Center on Pine Street.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

On May 2 Seymour First Selectman Kurt Miller, a Republican, and Stephan Behuniak, a Democrat on the Board of Selectmen, stopped by to talk about the budget with Valley Indy staffers Eugene Driscoll and Ethan Fry.
